Veterinary Services

It is said that Vets have it tough as we have to deal with more than one species, but more than that we are also the dentist, surgeon, nutritionist, radiologist, gynaecologist, obstetrician, paediatrician, ophthalmologist and not to forget sometimes the psychologist!
Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best:

Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pet’s complete health care needs.

Surgical Services: We provide a range of surgical procedures, including sterilizations and soft tissue surgery.

Dentistry: Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery.

Anaesthesia: We utilize the safest available anaesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients.

Radiology Services: Our on-site, modern X-ray equipment provides high quality x-rays to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders.

Ultrasound:  We offer Ultrasound diagnostics by appointment with a specialist who will come to our practice.

Laboratory: Our in-house laboratory facilities provide serum chemistry, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing. We make use of an outside veterinary laboratory for specialised diagnostics and consultations.

Microchiping: We offer microchiping which is the only true form of owner identification.

Pharmacy: We maintain complete inventory of medicines, medicated shampoos, and carry a full line of prescription diets.

Dietary Counselling: We will provide guidance regarding your pet’s nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.

Behavioural Counselling: We provide advice regarding the correction of unwanted behaviours such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression. We can refer to animal trainers and registered behaviourists for specific behavioural needs.

Parasite Control: We stock a range of tick and flea products to suite your pets specific needs.

Emergency Care: We refer all after-hours emergency care to the Bryanston Veterinary Hospital (011) 706 6023 or Fourways Veterinary Hospital (011) 705 3411. Both are 24 hour hospitals.
